Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care for Nursing Homes

A training series for nursing home staff
In collaboration with the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) as part of the agency’s Nursing Facility Quality Improvement Program (NFQIP), VCU Gerontology brings you Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care for Nursing Homes. These courses offer nursing home staff the tools, knowledge, and confidence to deliver person-centered, trauma-informed care. Through these self-paced, virtual courses, you will explore what person-centered care means in practice, how it transforms daily interactions with residents, and why it is essential for quality of life.
This series will challenge you to look beyond tasks and routines, and instead focus on honoring the individuality, dignity, and preferences of each resident. Together, we’ll discover how person-centered approaches improve care outcomes, enhance staff satisfaction, and create a home for residents.
